Leading the Way in Louth: Non-Invasive Pelvic Floor Treatment with EMsella

Introducing the Emsella Chair at GoodPeople Medical Centre – the first of its kind in County Louth & Meath and the only one in Drogheda! We are excited to offer this groundbreaking, non-invasive treatment for pelvic floor health and urinary incontinence to the local community.

What is the EMsella Chair?

It’s a ground breaking form of non invasive, pain free and quick way of strengthening the pelvic floor for both male and female. The chair essentially uses HIFM technology to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles thus essentially strengthening and tightening weak pelvic floor muscles.

High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Muscle (HIFEM) technology is a revolutionary approach to pelvic floor strengthening. This non-invasive, painless, and rapid treatment is suitable for both men and women, addressing a range of pelvic floor issues.

The HIFEM chair utilises focused electromagnetic energy to induce supramaximal contractions in the pelvic floor muscles. These contractions are significantly stronger than those achievable through voluntary Kegel exercises. By stimulating thousands of these contractions in a single session, the HIFEM chair effectively strengthens and tightens weakened pelvic floor muscles.

Who Can Benefit from EMsella?

The Emsella chair is a versatile tool designed to improve pelvic floor health and can benefit a wide range of individuals. It is particularly helpful for those who or have experienced urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, or postpartum recovery, as well as individuals seeking to improve sexual health or support recovery from surgery.

Is the Treatment Painful?

No, the treatment is not painful. It is non-invasive, meaning there is no surgery or insertion of any devices. Instead, you simply sit on the Emsella chair, just like you would in a regular chair, while the treatment works to strengthen your pelvic muscles.

How Long Does the Treatment Take?

The Emsella treatment is relatively quick, with each session lasting just 28 minutes. While the speed of the treatment might seem too fast to be reassuring, the results speak for themselves. In fact, studies have shown that Emsella can improve stress urinary incontinence (SUI) by up to 95%. This demonstrates its effectiveness in delivering noticeable results in a short amount of time, offering a solution that fits seamlessly into your routine.

Do I need to take off my clothes for the treatment?

No, the treatment is non invasive and you simply have to seat on the chair fully clothed for 28 minutes.

What are the side effects of the treatment?

The Emsella Chair is generally considered safe with minimal side effects, and most people tolerate the treatment very well. It’s natural to have questions about what to expect before and after your session.

While side effects are rare, you might experience the following:

  • Temporary Muscle Soreness – Similar to the feeling after a workout, this occurs because the high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology stimulates and strengthens your pelvic muscles.
  • Slight Tingling or Contractions During Treatment – This is a normal sensation as the chair works to activate deep pelvic floor muscles, much like the feeling of a muscle contracting during a workout.
  • Temporary Redness or Tenderness in the Treatment Area – Some users may notice mild redness or tenderness, which is a result of increased blood circulation and muscle activation in the pelvic area.

These effects are usually mild and should resolve quickly after the session. If you have any concerns, it’s always a good idea to speak with our staff.
